Teas
Teas
All of our teas from Hugo Tea Company located in St. Louis.

Gao Wen
From Hugo Tea: GAO WEN is our flagship black tea from Ma Wei Shan farm in Yunnan province, the source of our moonlight white and pu'er teas. Unequivocally smooth with a robust aroma of melted chocolate and malt, this tea is the result of a co-produced, high-heat baking process ("gao wen" in Chinese translates to "high heat"), whereby the tea undergoes multiple rounds of roasting at specific temperatures to achieve a bold, smoky character that brews a full-bodied liquor with a rich rosewood hue.

Ma Wei Moonlight
From Hugo Tea: Ma Wei Moonlight is a visually striking style of white tea specific to Yunnan. Broadly known as "moonlight white" teas, our partner farm this year produced a bud-heavy version that features a gentle brown sugar sweetness and robust floral character.

Rainier
From Hugo Tea: RAINIER is a tisane blend led by peppermint leaf of the black mitcham cultivar, renowned for its depth of flavor and ample essential oil content—the result of high-mountain growing conditions that stress the plant and concentrate its compounds (not unlike matcha or gyokuro tea).

Jasmine Bai Hao
From Hugo Tea: Crafted with early spring-plucked, baihao-style green tea and organic summer jasmine blossoms from Heng county, JASMINE BAI HAO hails from southern China's Guangxi province, a region famous for its vast jasmine gardens. The tea is substantially tippy—the plump, juicy buds produce a velvety liquor that sets this Hugo-specific lot apart.

Hugo Grey
From Hugo Tea: Hugo Grey is our rendition of Earl Grey, hand-blended with essential oil of bergamot from Italy's famed Reggio Calabria region. The base tea is our flagship black; Gao Wen, a malty, almost Scotch-like tea from Ma Wei Shan farm in Yunnan. It provides a rich body and balanced "breakfast tea" flavor profile that compliments and uplifts the vibrant, citrusy bergamot. Freshness is paramount in scented and blended teas—for this reason we craft Hugo Grey on-site and in small lots, repeating the process often to ensure the product is always potent and flavorful.

Chai Latte
From Hugo Tea: Organic Guangxi black tea slowly simmered with cinnamon bark, Peruvian ginger root, cardamom seed, malabar peppercorns, and clove bud. Steeped until a full-bodied concentrate is formed, to which a modest measure of cane sugar is added. Makes for well-rounded chai lattes with balanced spice and subtle sweetness. This recipe was designed and tweaked to perfection after years of input from

Matcha Latte
From Hugo Tea: Our flagship organic matcha begins deep in the mountains of China’s Chun’an county. Here we manage Feng Shu Ling farm, our matcha project—a joint venture between Japanese growers and Chinese farmers. Produced from a cultivar hybrid of Yabukita (the gold standard in matcha production) and Zhong Cha #102 (an experimental cultivar optimized for the terroir), our custom matcha boasts an exceptionally clean, mineral-forward, and understated flavor profile, perfect for lattes and culinary applications.
